Jokowi Inaugurates Largest PLTS in Kupang
On Sunday (27/12/2015) in Central Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, precisely in Oelpuah Village, President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Independent Power Producer Solar Power Plant (IPP PLTS) 5MWP built by PT LEN Industri (Persero) which acts as the IPP.
This 5MWp PLTS is the largest PLTS ever built in Indonesia. PT Surya Energi Indotama which acts as the EPC for the PLTS project is also proud because the project can be completed faster than expected. Construction began in January 2015 and is targeted to be completed in June 2016.
"This is the first one that can be completed in nine months. The energy mix, a combination like this is environmentally friendly," said Jokowi as quoted by the Presidential Communication Team, Sunday (27/12/2015).
The PLTS system used is the Grid-Connected system where the solar power plant works in parallel and is directly connected to the main electricity network. Therefore, this PLTS does not use a battery system because the electricity generated is directly channeled to the existing electricity network during the day. This system consists of a series of solar module panels, an inverter system, an electrical protection system, and a network interconnection device.
This Grid-Connected PLTS system has been built in two locations in Bali (Bangli and Karangasem) with a total power of 1 MWP each.
