SEI Officially Completes 585 kWp Floating Solar Power Plant at Tambak Lorok, Semarang
Semarang (10/02/2026) — SEI has successfully completed the construction of a 585 kWp Floating Solar Power Plant at the Tambak Lorok Combined Cycle Power Plant (PLTGU) in Semarang, marking another important milestone in supporting Indonesia’s transition to renewable energy. The project was executed under an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with PLN Indonesia Geothermal and has now been officially handed over.
Designed to supply the PDCSTG 1 load in Block 1 of PLN Indonesia Power UBP Semarang, the floating solar power plant is expected to improve internal energy efficiency by providing auxiliary power for several critical facilities, including the Water Treatment Plant, Unit 1 Auxiliary System, Emergency System, Condenser Vacuum System, and control room lighting.
Construction took place between September and December 2025. Throughout the project, the SEI team successfully overcame several technical and operational challenges while maintaining the highest standards of quality and occupational safety.
One of the primary challenges involved ensuring occupational safety during installation on water, particularly under extreme weather conditions. To safeguard personnel and maintain compliance with safety regulations, all installation activities were suspended whenever heavy rainfall created unsafe working conditions.

Another major challenge was integrating the new system with an existing operational facility. As the project expanded an active system, the legacy infrastructure had to remain fully operational throughout the integration process. This required meticulous planning, greater technical precision, and a longer execution period than conventional rooftop or ground-mounted solar power plant installations.
Erwin Widodo, Electrical Engineer at PLN Indonesia Power UBP Semarang, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and successful completion of the project.
“We highly appreciate SEI’s performance in successfully delivering this project. We hope the floating solar power plant will continue to operate safely and reliably in supporting the PDC Block 1 power supply, which requires a high level of stability,” he said.
