Visiting PLHS Nusa Penida, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko Gives Appreciation
NUSA PENIDA - The Chief of Presidential Staff of the Republic of Indonesia, General TNI (ret.) Dr. H. Moeldoko accompanied by the Regent of Klungkung I Nyoman Suwirta reviewed the progress of the construction of the Nusa Penida PLHS in Suana Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency (29/08). This working visit was in order to monitor the construction of the Nusa Penida PLHS as one of the showcases of New and Renewable Energy (EBT) which will be shown at the G20 agenda later.
"I really appreciate the construction of the Nusa Penida Hybrid PLTS to encourage the pace of green energy transformation. What is even more proud is that this enormous potential emerged from the limestone hill area which is considered unproductive to produce something," said Moeldoko, giving appreciation to all parties involved.
The Nusa Penida Hybrid Solar Power Plant (PLHS) is a project owned by PT Indonesia Power in collaboration with PT Surya Energi Indotama (SEI) and Hitachi as a consortium. The construction of the PLHS with a capacity of 4.2 MWp has been carried out since March 2022 and is targeted for completion in October 2022 to support the implementation of the G20 Bali Summit next November. The construction progress has currently reached 82 percent.
This power plant that combines solar and diesel power is one of the efforts to achieve the National EBT mix target of 23% in 2025 and supports the achievement of the Republic of Indonesia's National Determined Contribution (NDC) commitment in 2030. Built on an area of 4.5 hectares (ha), the Nusa Penida PLHS is projected to be able to produce 6,387 MWh or equivalent to the needs of 3,000 homes. The environmentally friendly energy of the PLHS is expected to be able to reduce carbon emissions by 3,200 tons of CO2 per year.
"We need a healthy environment. This PLTS will reduce carbon emissions quite significantly. Of course this is good for the future of Indonesian children," added Moeldoko.
On the agenda, Harlen as Director of Development and Commerce of PT Indonesia Power said that the PLHS was able to reduce fuel consumption by approximately 1,596,875 liters/year which is equivalent to a budget expenditure of IDR 19 trillion per year. In addition, Moeldoko explained that the country is currently still bearing the burden of energy subsidies of up to IDR 700 trillion.
"This is very good. If this can be reduced, then the budget (energy subsidy) can be (allocated) to improve health and education services," said Moeldoko.
After the visit was over, Moeldoko gave the green light that the Nusa Penida PLHS would be one of the projects that President Jokowi would visit later.
Also present were the Directors of PT Indonesia Power, Director of Marketing and Business Development of SEI I Made Sandika Dwiantara, Dandim 1610 Klungkung Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Sugendar Suryaningrat, Klungkung Police Chief AKBP I Nengah Sadiarta, Head of Baperlitbang Klungkung Regency Anak Agung Gede Lesmana, Nusa Penida sub-district head Komang Widiasa Putra, and other invitees.
