Mayor of Bandung Inaugurates Len and SEI Solar Energy Saung in Tegallega Park
BANDUNG (19/01) – Acting Mayor of Bandung Yana Mulyana together with Finance and HR Director of PT Len Industri (Persero) Indarto Pamoengkas and President Director of PT SEI Bambang Iswanto inaugurated 5 (five) solar-powered pavilions installed in Tegallega Park, Bandung City on Wednesday (19/01).
The solar-powered pavilions are assistance from PT Len Industri (Persero) and its subsidiary, PT Surya Energi Indotama (SEI) to the Bandung City Government.
Yana Mulyana explained in his remarks, “The spirit of togetherness and collaboration in financing development is currently very much needed. As stated in mission 5 to develop participatory, collaborative and integrated city financing, this is the time for us to realize it.”
“On behalf of the Bandung City Government, I would like to thank PT Len Industri (Persero) for contributing assistance in the form of 5 solar-powered pavilions for the City of Bandung, located in Tegalega Park, Bandung City. We hope that this momentum can motivate many parties to be part of the efforts to overcome the problems we are currently facing together," he continued.
Indarto Pamoengkas said in his speech, "We (Len and SEI) will provide 10 solar-powered huts. Currently, 5 units have been installed in Tegallega Park, and 5 more units will follow."
The five huts are spread out, including 2 points in the Bandung Lautan Api Monument area, 2 points in Lampions Park, and 1 point in the Tirta Lega swimming pool area.
"Each hut can produce 408 Watt Hours (WH) of electrical energy per day which will be stored in a 700 WH battery. This energy is used for park lighting and can be used by park visitors to charge their cellphones and other electronic devices," said Indarto.
Bambang Iswanto said, "By placing solar-powered huts in Bandung City parks, they can not only be utilized by people visiting the parks. Namely in the form of facilities for charging cellphones and other electronic devices, a place to take shelter and relax, but it will also add to the beauty of the city park as well as a form of education on the use of environmentally friendly new renewable energy. So it is hoped that people will increasingly know, care and will try to utilize new and renewable energy in their daily lives."
According to Bambang, for SEI, it is certainly an encouragement to continue to work hard to make solar energy widely utilized for all people anywhere, anytime and by anyone.
Bandung City with its nickname "Paris van Java" or Paris of Java is a tourist city that has many city parks. These parks are a special attraction for tourists and Bandung City residents as a place of entertainment, especially on weekends.
This is what underlies Len and SEI in collaboration with the Bandung City Government and related agencies to take the initiative to provide support by making solar-powered huts to be installed in public facilities in Bandung City parks.
The solar-powered huts of Len and SEI are the work of the nation's children who combine the culture of the Priangan land, in the form of huts as a place of shelter, with modern technology in the form of renewable energy Solar Power Plants (PLTS).
Head of the Tegallega Technical Implementation Unit (UPT), Oding said, "Hopefully this solar-powered pavilion can be utilized properly by residents and visitors to parks in Bandung City, especially in Tegallega Park. Let's take care of it together so that more people can feel the benefits."
Continuous use of fossil energy will result in the depletion of existing fossil energy reserves. Therefore, it is very necessary to carry out decarbonization, switching to using renewable energy such as PLTS.
Decarbonization is the transition from fossil fuels to more environmentally friendly fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Decarbonization can be achieved by implementing low-carbon technology and energy sources, one of which is solar renewable energy.
The presence of this solar-powered hut, although not large, is expected to provide education to residents about decarbonization and the use of solar renewable energy, and can help the Bandung City Government in realizing the Bandung Caang Baranang Program.
Present at today's inauguration were the Chairperson of the Bandung City TJSL Forum, Binsar P.H. Naipospos, as well as representatives from the Head of the Research and Development Agency and the Head of the Bandung City DPKP3 Office.
